EMBRACING NATURAL SYSTEMS

In addition to our on-campus programs, REAP supports local initiatives, organizations, and municipalities. Below are three projects we are particularly proud to be involved with!

OAKLAND ALAMEDA ADAPTATION COMMITTEE

Sea level rise will have widespread impacts on our region and its communities.

The OAAC leads three key local adaptation projects intended to protect and restore water quality, habitat, recreation, and adjacent community vitality.

In addition to participating in the OAAC, REAP is part of the Community Partners Group, whose purpose is to engage community and refine the goals of the OAAC.

ALAMEDA URBAN FOREST PLANNING GROUP

Urban forests create widespread benefits for communities, from biodiversity and cooler temperatures to improved health outcomes.

Alameda’s Urban Forest Plan is intended to advance social equity and extend the benefits of the urban tree canopy to all community members.

The updated Urban Forest plan will guide the City’s operations and activities to expand and maintain the tree canopy for the next 10 years.

ALAMEDA COUNTY WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD

The Alameda County Workforce Development Board facilitates the connection of job seekers to quality jobs while remaining responsive and supportive to local area businesses.

The board oversees the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title I program for Alameda County, outside the city of Oakland.
