Guilds, Groups and Projects
How to get more deeply involved in REAP’s community of doers.
A community like REAP faces many challenges, but one of them is: how do we invite community members, passionate individuals, subject-matter experts, volunteers, clients, and more into dialogue and action? For us, the answer is our Guilds, Groups, and Projects model. Guilds, Groups, and Projects let us organize interested people from all walks of life into groups where they can thrive. But what are they?
Guilds are ongoing programs that drive directly at REAP’s mission. These are communities united by interest in a subject, say vermicompost or mycoremediation or permaculture. Guilds are the most common way for interested people to get involved with REAP.
Groups are operational, professional, organizational teams that support REAP. Things like grants and grant strategy, marketing and social media, and workforce development are active Groups at REAP. Groups are open to join upon request, and based on need. Interested in supporting REAP on a pro bono basis? You might want to join a Group!
Projects are activities with a finite start and stop date, either growing beyond the smaller scope of a Guild or Group or existing between the cracks. Some examples of projects might include restoring a work of on-campus art or planning a major event.
As of now, REAP has a Guild for each of our 17 programs. To get involved in a Guild, join our Slack here. To join a Group, join Slack and reach out to the #questions-and-resources channel to ask about involvement.
