Weekly Open House & Volunteer Days ~ Sundays 10am to Sunset ~ Wednesdays 2pm to Sunset
We find that there is nothing that brings more climate hope than being able to sink our teeth into climate action.
Surrounded by people wanting to make a difference, REAP’s volunteer opportunities are a way for people to get involved, get their hands dirty, and to have an impact.
There are lots of ways to get involved!
We are grateful for our volunteers! Whether you are coming as an individual, or in a group, or during a field trip, or to complete community service, or by representing your corporation, you are all important in helping the REAP Climate Center achieve our impact goals as well as growing the community space as a whole. There are things for all levels of ability—both onsite work and remote tasks, as well as some specialized volunteer roles and donated professional services that support our core operations.
The REAP Climate Center’s mission is grand and the campus is massive, so there is always lots to do. Whether you want to try something new or bring your specialized skills, there is truly something for everyone. We are also happy to host groups and corporate activities.
Individual Volunteers
At the heart of REAP’s volunteer opportunities is our desire to be open to our community. Our regular volunteer days are an open door for people to come see what we’re doing, maybe get your hands dirty, and be around people with deep compassion for the earth and those who live on it. You can see our Volunteer day/Open House Hours here!
Those looking to get involved on a deeper level can take a look at our specialized volunteer positions and are encouraged to stop by on our Open House/Volunteer Days to get to know the REAP vibe!

Community Service
We are a 501c3 nonprofit and have the capacity to sign off on community service for a myriad of reasons, requirements academic or otherwise.
Small Groups
For groups of less than 15 adults and/or youth, you are welcome to join our twice-weekly open house volunteer days. Good for youth community service hours. This is free, and no reservations are required, but a heads-up is nice, and we always appreciate donations. Come for as little or as long as you like. *All ages welcome. Adult supervision is required for ages 14 & under.
Field Trips
We are proud to partner with our on-campus partner, the Alameda Young Naturalist Club. They are an independent organization providing a fun, safe, outdoor education where kids make friends, develop life-skills, and build self-confidence. *100% of fees go directly to AYNC. Please see them for details.
Corporate Philanthropy
REAP is happy to support regional corporate initiatives. We are surrounded by leaders of creativity and progress, and tapping in to corporate philanthropy gives us the valued opportunity to be in conversation with global hubs of innovation.
We provide these hubs a path to give back to local communities and the environment through aligning with existing corporate philanthropy frameworks and providing ramps into climate work.
Our current paths to corporate philanthropy include the platforms Benevity, Goodera, and Allaya, where a companies manage and track their philanthropic efforts.
There are many avenues for these types of relationships to flourish, and we look forward to what we can accomplish together.

Follow signs into North Campus, park, and make your way to the Tiny House Office for check-in.
If no one is there, either ring the BIG BELL, read the sign indicating where to go, or simply head to where you see people gathering.
Parking is limited and we like the Earth, so we recommend biking, walking, or teleportation.
-
We recommend closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and a water bottle.

All sorts of stuff. From gardening to making soil, crafting to lite construction, tinkering to engineering, and community building to building curriculum. Our goals are lofty, yet they are simply one step at a time.

Yes. All must have a completed waiver. Youth 15 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. We recommend all parents come to visit at least once to say hi.
-
Eventually, probably. For the first couple of visits, come get the lay of the land without your furry friend. Be sure to check out the pet section of the REAP Rules.
-
Probably. We love it when people take initiative to bring something to fruition. This can be as a group or as an individual. Come visit and let’s see what may be a good fit.

Limited porta-potties.

Yes. However, please know we prioritize remote activities first for people with limited mobility. So far we have never run out of remote tasks, so please inquire.
-
Nope. Wednesdays and Sundays are for all volunteers - as often and as many times as you like. Most days we are also open for people to simply stroll thru and say hi.
In fact, before people become members, we ask they attend at least three volunteer days. This is how we hope to build community.
-
We are always working to make it better. There are currently no paved surfaces. Most of the property is flat with a park-like setting. Surfaces are generally compressed road-base, loose gravel, or wood chips.
There is an accessible porta potty.
We are actively seeking grants and funders to help make more of the site accessible. If you have resources or suggestions, please feel free to share them.
